Leah Meinhardt - Music & Ice Skating
Leah is a first semester senior here at Evangel University, and she will be graduating in December 2010. Despite the fact that Leah is very musically talented, she also has a hidden talent of ice-skating. She took ice-skating lessons for about five years in middle school and junior high, but she has always loved skating. Leah said, "I finished all of the basic levels, most of free-style, and even did some speed skating." She says that she still loves skating to this day! Leah does not do many jumps anymore, but she definitely enjoys ice-skating for fun.
Other than her ice-skating past, Leah plays piano, electric bass, flute, as well as singing. Leah said, "I have played piano ever since I had to sit on a stack of phone books in my lessons. Probably about sixteen years." She is still taking piano lessons here at Evangel. Leah has played the flute for twelve years, including her playing the flute in Evangel's orchestra. Leah's dad, a worship leader, taught her how to play the bass guitar, and she has been playing that for about eight years for various worship teams. Leah's family is all very musical. She has a few cousins and her sister that are music teachers/choir directors. "I just grew up around it, so it seemed natural to me," Leah said. Leah is majoring in Advertising/Public Relations with a minor in music. In her own words, "I don't want to teach music or be a worship pastor, but I don't think it will ever be something I could stop loving."
