Michael Szalapski Evangel Graduate 2008Major:Major at evangel: Electronic Media with a film emphasis Current Job: The title for my current job is Instructional Systems Developer, but I'm basically a video editor, cinematographer and motion graphic designer. The majority of what I do is related to motion graphic design. I am a civilian contractor working in support of the Army's 160th Special Operations Aviation Regiment (Airborne) at Fort Campbell, Kentucky. They're also called the Night Stalkers. There's a very nice Wikipedia page about them. It's a job that includes everything I wanted to do and more. Plus it pays well and has great benefits. Media Involvement at Evangel: At Evangel I was the station manager for KECC for a year. I had a very fun and surprisingly popular radio show known as Fallen Angels. I was a news anchor on NewsWatch for two semesters (and a guest anchor when others were ill). I was a the first entertainment presenter in the history of Strobelight and I went on to produce the show for the next year after that. I was also one of the producers of the infamous Dr. Kelton fan magazine. What did you learn through you envolvement with Evangel media: Evangel's Media taught me more about how to work on a team. Prior to attending Evangel I had some experience in design, but it was always by myself. However, being the producer of Strobelight meant I was also working with a director, camera people, onscreen talent, and record labels. A lot of work goes into a weekly television show. It was one of my greatest Evangel experiences. My time at Evangel put me in contact with people that enabled me to get real-world experience in video including producing a lot of marketing for the university itself. For example, I was the cinematographer, colorist, designer and special effects dude on the Crimson Crusader as well as several other marketing pieces for Evangel. |
